The Real Thing

Motorsport roots
The enthusiast community

A dash of heritage and motorsport-inspired style executed in superior quality, beautifully crafted materials. Those qualities – which could also describe any of the vehicles in Bentley’s range – sum up the new 1919 Collection, a seasonal release of apparel designed by Mai Ikuzawa.

Ikuzawa, who is Bentley’s External Creative Director, has familial roots in both design and motorsport. Her father Tetsue was a pioneering Japanese racing driver and team owner, and her grandfather was an artist. She deftly combines both influences in her work and is never happier than when inhabiting the pit-lane among Crewe’s past Le Mans winning cars.

The 1919 Collection by Mai Ikuzawa pays tribute to Bentley’s storied past, but the style and cut is unmistakably 2026. Highlight of the range is a mechanic’s chore coat, while other items include a crew neck sweat, polo shirt, tee-shirt and peaked cap.

“Bentley has always been more than a maker of luxury cars,” explains Mai Ikuzawa. “When you look back at their history, it’s striking that a passionate community of enthusiasts and owners became part of the brand and that’s how the brand was built. Those Bentley Boys and pioneering Bentley Girls began a golden era. That’s the spirit we’re capturing today.”

Ikuzawa and her fellow External Creative Director Greg Williams bring an objective viewpoint to Bentley’s communications. “In an era of AI-generated perfection, we want to bring back authentic storytelling. Real stories from real enthusiasts.”

Because the 1919 Collection will be available on site at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and Monterey Car Week, it will only be worn by those enthusiasts who make the pilgrimage. “These will be ‘I was there’ pieces,” explains Ikuzawa. “They signal that you’re part of this special community.”

Chore Coat
Exclusive to Goodwood and Monterey

Each of the pieces in the 1919 Collection is crafted with care using the finest materials – just as you’d expect of Bentley. The palette of colours includes Bentley Green, black and white, shades closely connected with the brand heritage. Only available at the 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed and Monterey Car Week, they’re designed to last years and become cherished items for the owner’s wardrobe.

The collection highlight is the Chore Coat in traditional Bentley Green, crafted in Japan under the personal supervision of Mai Ikuzawa. Constructed in hardwearing cotton oxford fabric, the Chore Coat features the Bentley wings and the words ‘Bentley Motors Since 1919’ in Heritage White chain stitch embroidery. The cut is relaxed, with external patch pockets, while intricate details like the removable Velcro ‘Full Send’ patch and woven labels are there for the wearer to discover.

The 1919 Collection also includes a crew neck sweat in reverse weave 12-oz fabric, a polo shirt, an American-style tee-shirt and a six-panel cap. A spacious tote bag and embroidered key rings complete the line-up. The 1919 Collection is a seasonal release for the 2026 season, available only to Bentley guests and enthusiasts attending this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed and Monterey Car Week.
