New Flying Spur Mulliner

A new, smart air conditioning system can filter out potentially harmful PM2.5 particles. It constantly compares air quality inside and outside the cabin, recirculating the air inside the car if the air quality outside drops. It can even use GPS data in real time to tell when the car is approaching a tunnel, and respond accordingly.

The Flying Spur Mulliner includes the Front and Rear Comfort Specification as standard, offering a wealth of adjustment, heating, ventilation and even massage options. It can also be commissioned with the optional Wellness Seating specification, which comprises two further innovative features. Seat Auto-Climate monitors temperature and humidity at the surface of the seat and uses its heating and ventilation systems to respond accordingly, keeping you comfortable throughout your drive. Postural Adjust, meanwhile, helps prevent fatigue setting in on long drives by using air pockets in the seat to vary the pressure on your muscles almost imperceptibly, with a variety of movement patterns that includes a unique twisting motion, for the ultimate in long-distance comfort.

The car is equipped with both wired and wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android AutoTM, plus a built-in Wi-Fi hotspot and wireless phone charging. CarPlay can be displayed on either the driver’s information panel or the central touchscreen, where it now makes use of the entire screen. 

You can also download apps directly to the car’s infotainment system from a selection curated and supported by Bentley, with the new My Bentley App Studio. In the case of a navigation app, for example, this will allow it to use vehicle data such as fuel and range levels that would be inaccessible to an app running on your phone.

The Touchscreen Remote enables passengers in the rear to check trip information, adjust the seats and control the audio system, while Bentley Rear Entertainment lets them stream content from their mobile devices to 10” high-resolution screens. 

There is a suite of assistance systems aimed at aiding urban drivers. The car can identify parking spaces and help you park – and if the space is so tight that opening the door might prove difficult, you can even get out before the manoeuvre begins and control your car as it parks via your phone. Other systems can alert you if you look likely to scrape your paintwork or collide with a bollard, for example. A three-dimensional, real-time view of your nearby surroundings is provided on the central touchscreen – and you can choose from a choice of different camera views. 

The Touring Specification is included as standard, adding a wealth of driving aids that can prove useful on long journeys. Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane Guidance*, will help you keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front, when driving on the highway – and it can alert you if you drift from the centre of your lane. Predictive Adaptive Cruise Control* manages your speed on major non-highway roads while, if you become tired, Emergency Assist* will issue alerts to gain your attention, and keep you safe.

You can choose from three sound systems. Bentley Signature Audio is installed as standard, while the 16-channel Bang & Olufsen for Bentley and the phenomenal 20-channel, 2,200 Watt Naim for Bentley system are available as options. 

There are five driving modes, allowing you to make the most of the new Ultra Performance Hybrid powertrain. You can drive for up to 50 miles on electric power only, by selecting EV Drive – perfect for driving in cities with restrictive emissions policies. In Hybrid mode, the car will intelligently toggle between electric power and the combustion engine, while Hold mode uses the V8 engine exclusively, preserving battery charge. Charge mode uses the engine to charge the battery while driving, while to unleash the full power of the car, there is Sport Hold, which combines the full power of the V8 engine with a boost from the electric motor.
