Jim Moore

Encouraged by his supportive mother, teenage Jim Moore left his suburban Minnesota roots for New York City to pursue a career in fine arts. Serendipity landed him on a fashion shoot, and he was immediately hooked. Jim soon landed an apprenticeship with GQ and found himself immersed in the world of men’s fashion. For the better part of 40 years, Jim Moore served as the Creative Director for the iconic magazine, styling celebrities and popular culture icons for countless cover shoots.  

The popular magazine was the perfect platform for Jim’s ultimate goal; to de-mystify fashion for the average guy and help them feel more confident about dressing well and feeling comfortable in their own skin. Along his Extraordinary Journey, some of Jim’s most rewarding relationships were forged with the great photographers of the day. Today Jim continues his Journey as an author, stylist, mentor, and un-official mayor of Palm Springs.

FASHION ICON

For more than four decades, Jim Moore has been a fixture in men’s fashion. With his signature head to toe black “uniform” and aviator glasses, his presence on set instilled confidence and encouraged fun. Jim’s special knack for disarming even the most guarded of subjects turned a day of production into a special time for all. Published in 2019, Moore’s “Hunks and Heroes” has become the ultimate style guide for modern men.  

He cultivated strong relationships with the established designers, but also prides himself on mentoring up and comers. For a young designer, the guidance and support Jim provides makes all the difference. While fashion trends change and evolve over time, Jim has helped generations of men stay current and informed. BRAND ARCHITECT

As Creative Director for a fashion institution like GQ magazine, Jim carried a considerable weight. GQ cover shoots were widely anticipated throughout the industry and Jim and his creative team managed to continuously raise the bar. Jim’s influence perpetuated GQ as a global authority of men’s style and fashion sense. 

Today, Moore is mentoring several young designers in their quest to establish their individual brands in a very competitive space. In addition to mentoring, he collaborates with established celebrities and their respective apparel partners.

CREATIVE

Just one example of Moore’s creative range is his appreciation of mid-century architecture. In the 1990’s Palm Springs was a popular location for fashion photography. The sleek, clean aesthetic of the mid-century look helped amplify the featured fashion looks.  

In 1993, Jim purchased a famous Donald Wexler designed home in his winter escape of Palm Springs. The home was one of seven prefabricated homes in the neighborhood, delivered in pieces and assembled in just two weeks in 1962. After a considerable restoration, Wexler’s status as one of modernism’s unsung heroes became acknowledged and the home is on the National Registry of Historic Places and is class-one historical landmarked. While Moore still spends most of the year in NYC, he considers Palm Springs his second home and enjoys sharing the desert city with all his friends and family, and often lends his home to global brands for on-location photo and video shoots.

BENTAYGA FIRST EDITION

The main paint for this V8 First Edition is Viridian, a modern take on the traditional British Racing Green. The Mulliner Driving Specification includes 22” ten-spoke directional wheels, twin stitching diamond quilted shoulder and door inserts, sport pedals, and embroidered Bentley wings emblems.  

Inside the main hide is Camel, with a Beluga secondary upholstery accent. The veneer is Crown Cut Walnut, and optioned for this model is the Naim for Bentley audio system. This example also included Bentleys’ Four-Seat Comfort Specification and a Breitling clock with a dark mother of pearl face.
