Bentley enters three cars in Nurburgring 24H 2017
Three Bentley Continental GT3s will take on the world’s largest endurance race in May 2017 as Bentley Team ABT and Bentley Team M-Sport combine for the 2017 Nürburgring 24 Hours.
In conjunction with staff from Bentley Motorsport and Bentley Team M-Sport, Bentley Team ABT has contested three races on the Nürburgring already this season in preparation for the twice-around-the-clock endurance event, taking a second place finish in VLN1 and performing very strongly in VLN2 and the Qualifying Race.
With Bentley’s works team drivers Guy Smith (GB), Steven Kane (GB) and Maxime Soulet (BE) focusing on getting their Blancpain GT Series campaign underway, Nürburgring 24 Hours preparation has been the responsibility of a core group of Bentley Team ABT drivers: Christian Mamerow (DE), Christer Jöns (DE), Christian Menzel (DE), Chris Brück (DE), Nico Verdonck (BE) and Jordan Lee Pepper (SA).
Supporting Bentley Team ABT as they take on Bentley’s biggest sporting challenge of the year will be Bentley’s Director of Motorsport, Brian Gush, who comments: “I couldn’t ask for a more experienced team to be representing Bentley at this now-global event. Nürburgring 24 Hours is considered in the motoring world to be one of the most prestigious and challenging events - perform well here and you have demonstrated that your brand has the top engineering expertise in the world.
“Bentley Team ABT is a very experienced team at the Nürburgring and that will prove invaluable during the 24-hour race. Add to that the product knowledge that Bentley Team M-Sport has and we have a very strong setup.
“Guy and Steven have raced on the Nordschleife for the last two years and Maxime has completed VLN races so we’re confident that, with a comprehensive brief from the other drivers, they will be well-prepared for the challenge ahead.”
Nürburgring 24 Hours takes place on 27/28 May on the gruelling Nürburgring Nordschleife, which twists for 26km through the forested Eifel region of Germany.
