Team Absolute Racing triumph at Fuji

Bentley Team Absolute drivers Adderly Fong and Keita Sawa are tied for the lead in the GT Asia Series following their second win of the season in the #08 Bentley Continental GT3 at the Fuji International Speedway in July 2015.

Fong and Sawa recovered from an error in Saturday’s Round 5 to take an emphatic victory in Round 6, with Sawa taking the win at home in front of 31,000 fans.

Following another strong weekend, Bentley Team Absolute now also leads the Team Classification mid-way through its first full season of the GT Asia Series.

In addition to the victory for Sawa and Fong, the weekend featured several other highlights for the three-car squad: Briton Duncan Tappy and Hong Kong driver Jacky Yeung in car number 77  scored their best result of the season so far with a fifth-place finish in Round 5, while the pairing of Spanish Bentley Boy Andy Soucek and Jeffrey Lee of Chinese Taipei in the number 7 Bentley Continental GT were seventh in Round 6, one place ahead of Tappy and Yeung.

“We’re delighted to be leading the GT Asia Series at the season mid-point and to have taken a second victory amongst such a competitive field,” said Absolute Racing director Ingo Matter. “It’s great to see Jacky making strong strides and, with Duncan, scoring a fantastic fifth-place finish in Round 5. We’re in a good position heading into the second half of the season, and with double points on the table for the three-hour race in Sepang, we’ll be ready for the challenge and the opportunity to strengthen our lead.”

Bentley Team Absolute will race next in Round 7 of the GT Asia Series at Malaysia’s Sepang International Circuit from September 4-6. Round 7 will be a three-hour race – the series’ first – and double points will be awarded.
